Wonderful food - tasting menu was sensational. All staff were friendly, interesting and helpful. One small suggestion, would have preferred not having the radio on at breakfast.

After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor I was wondering what to expect as they were so mixed! People talking about being charged for 3 courses instead of 2 (these people have obviously never been in business, from time to time mistakes can happen) and someone else saying they were made to "feel small", that can only happen if you let it! On arrival we soon realised that Ahearnes was a little bit different.... It's well a bit faulty towers with heaps of friendliness and great food! Our room was massive although we did have to go through the bar to get to it but as the night wore on what I initially thought was unorganisation actually added to the charm of the place. We ate in the restaurant and the food was beautiful. They had a pianist playing which was a lovely touch whilst most restaurants stick on a cd. The staff were extremely warm and most welcoming. Then we went to the bar for a drink, great selection of beverages, most country pubs don't have Hendricks gin and don't know what Creme de Menthe is, Ahearnes had it all and many more! The staff were not only very nice but also extremely entertaining. Overall I would describe Ahearnes as a 5* faulty towers...but the faulty bit only adds to the charm!

This is definitely a place where the guest is King - or Queen as the case may be! In an ideal world every town should have an Aherne's. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay. The food was magnificent and the staff ever attentive and friendly. We look forward to a return visit. Thank you and well done! Aiden & Bernie.
